As many of you are aware my lead times have become excessive for custom orders and because of this I feel it is time to change the way I operate the business.
Unfortunately this means no more chefs knives. I will be making hunting and outdoor knives and posting them directly for sale on the website when they are finished. I won't be taking on new custom orders and the current order lists will be getting nuked.
For everyone who is on the order books already, the handful who have paid any kind of deposit by way of materials or trades will get their knives. A few of you have been checking in on your orders since placing them and I appreciate your patience with your knives and the fact that you're so keen to get a piece of my work so I'll make sure you guys are looked after.
While this news is probably disappointing to some of you, it will allow me to concentrate on getting the business to the next level. I am moving from custom orders to small scale production knives. While the business transitions I will be busy setting up the new workshop and refining my designs and processes.
Currently I am preparing to purchase a CNC machining centre to restart production of Bull Arabs in my own shop. This machine will hugely increase my production capability as well as allow me to manufacture blades that can't be made through traditional grinding methods.
While the process of building a dedicated knife manufacturing shop is both expensive and time consuming it opens up a lot of opportunities for L. Lynch Knives to make more of the cool shit that it was originally about.
